We bought Russet potatoes from Co-op in Saskatoon, the Gods are fickle about the potatoes from Heaven thing.
But because of the late spring the spruce buds were still tasty and tender, everyone gave them a try.
And Siren's witchcraft brought a tiny strange purple pink flower to the beach at Cree Lake during her evening walk, that was a perfect match for her toenail polish. She said it must be from her mother, now long gone.

Yet another "by the way" type of question: How did the kayak do through Hawk Rapids? By your write-up, I gather it/he did just fine. What kayak was it (how long)? It looks like a typical touring kayak, not usually used on remote and wild northern rivers. It probably excelled in that miserable north wind & on the flats.
Cheers,
Bryan

Bryan,

Yes it was just a regular touring yak. Dave, who ran Hawk in the yak was disappointed in it. He said it was almost "too easy"! The yak worked very well and Colin, my 14 yo son had a few days in it, and after he was comfortable in running the rapids he started to seek out the biggest waves to hit. So in the future if you have an odd # of paddlers it is certainly a doable option.

I remember the yakkers complaining about a wet 'n wrinkley ass at the end of the day. But there were plenty of offers from people willing to remedy that with a nice rubdown.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that"

Craig,

I had forgot about that. I guess I was just blocking that memory and picture! Or maybe it was I didn't live it, so it never happened? If I had sat in the yak, I'm sure I'd have countless hours of therapy in front of me.

Your letter arrived in the mail BTW. Thanks.
