I have used the Jim Lake road for accessing both the Coulonge and the Noire (at Ruisseau Forrant). However, I see that people start at Lac St. Patrice and paddle to the Black River Inn. To get to Lac St. Patrice, do you backtrack from the Inn to get to the Jim Lake road, or do you go up on the west side of the Noire?

I'm curious. How far up the Coulonge were you going? I had an adventure last summer putting in at about km 131 on the Lac a Jim Road, but I wasn't entirely happy with the put-in. There were two choices: one a hunting camp, and another a cottage/hunting cabin. How far up were you going? And where did you put in?

Regards,

Robin Davies.

Sorry to disappoint you. I have only gone as far as Chutes Enragées for the Coulonge put-in. There is a small road to the right just past Km 36 - the first road past Jim Lake Paradise. It's shown on Kevin Callan's map. I usually go beyond the bridge to the put-in at the bottom of the portage - it's down a grassy road 1.8 km past the landing at Lac Galerneau.

For the Noire, I have gone as far as the ZEC station at Barrage Forrant at Km 85.
