Hi, I probably could find this info somewhere on the net, but I trust paddlers more. Has LaVerendrye gotten much rain this summer? I'm heading up for a solo 7 day trip this Friday and am concerened about the possibility of a fire ban and low water levels. It's been pretty dry down here in Ct. Thanks for any help. Robin

Robin:
I just got back from 3 days in La Verendrye (Lac Poulter route #15) on monday. It was very dry. There was a ban on all open fires. Water levels were low, but certainly not low enough to prevent a really good trip (all sections were runnable), and some great swimming in the beautifully warm water. There was a downpour monday noon (just after we had got all the stuff loaded into the car!), but as it was just a thunderstorm, I doubt it had much long term effect.

If you are doing mostly lake travel, the lack of rainfall will barely affect you (except for the fire ban), but if you are planning mostly rivers, maybe it will be different, I don't know.

Good luck
