Float plane service in Quebec has been in chaos for the past year or so following the bankruptcy of Air Saguenay who operated a number of bases in Quebec and had the largest fleet of aircraft on floats that served general users.
I've been wondering if anyone was going to take over their operation but hadn't found out anything definitive until today. Apparently Air Tunilik has acquired the assets of Air Saguenay including the bases and perhaps remaining aircraft (some had already been sold off before the bankruptcy).
It is unclear at this time if Air Tunilik will be able to arrange the funding to support this move, they have some private funding but are looking for the Quebec government to help out with the approximate $5 million they need.
If they can get established this will open up vast areas of Northern Quebec presuming they will have at least some aircraft licensed for external loads. Air Tunilik have been in business since 2002 and currently own a Beaver and a Turbo Otter plus perhaps some of the Air Saguenay fleet.
