This is a great, but long, page in the forum, and unfortunately because it is so long, some of the info is no longer accurate in terms of links and contact info for some shuttle services, and so with a planned trip down the Coulonge in mind for the fall, I have some questions for any who may have current info, please and thank you.

- What guiding, rental, shuttle, outfitter etc. companies in the area offer both a shuttle service from just above the Grand Chutes to Fort Coulonge, which also will allow for overnight camping in Fort Coulonge, prior to pushing on east down the Ottawa River? Contact info??

- What is the contact information for any ZECs that must be paid before descending the Coulonge? and,

- Are black-legged ticks an issue along the Coulonge?

Thanks folks, cheers.

Might I suggest editing the title of this thread to include the location you're looking for information on?

(sorry, that's my only tip, I have no info on the location you're looking at)

Good point PacketFiend, thanks.

I didn't previously know that posts could be edited once posted. Cool.
Cheers.

Jim Coffey’s whitewater rafting and canoeing company, Esprit Rafting, is based in Davidson, Quebec just north of the mouth of the Coulonge. We got a shuttle from Esprit Rafting from the take-out just above the Chutes Coulonge. Here is their URL -

https://whitewater.ca

In 2016 they shuttled us from the top of the Chutes to their base camp on the Ottawa River for the night and then drove us back to the bottom of the chutes the next morning so we could paddle the Coulonge right to its mouth.

You may not be so obsessed as we were about doing the entire river! You could set off down the Ottawa from the Esprit base camp the next morning - or maybe take a day off and sign up for one of their rafting trips down the Rocher Fendu, one of North America's premier rafting destinations!

Then, like you are planning, we headed down to Ottawa and the Rideau Locks. See my Coulonge and Ottawa River trip reports if you need maps, camping info, etc.

Michel has retired. I think Black River Inn bought his business.

I second using Esprit Rafting to do your shuttle. Denis is the driver and he has a great deal of local knowledge.
Last August we stayed at Jim Coffee's air B&B on the Ottawa River and the next day Denis helped drop off my car at the take out and drove us up to the bridge just south of Lac Pomponne.
It's a great river!

Many thanks for all the input folks.

I have launched an introductory (even bi-lingual) email to Esprit, as after camping at their site, being able to launch right into the Ottawa after being shuttled to their site from just above the Grande Chute suites our cunning plan nicely.

This is such a great site.

Thanks again!

We paddled the Coulonge last summer and didn't pay any camping fees even in La Verendrye. That was on Michel's advice. We didn't see any tick's but that is last years information.
