Hello all. Looking to do a trip north of 60 with 2-3 canoes (4-6 ppl of varying degrees of experience) for 7-10 days. The options at this point are overwhelming. So maybe I should start with a trusted and reputable outfitter. Can anyone recommend a good outfitter who is knowledgable and isn’t into upselling some packaged deal for wealthy types?

Ideas:
Figure out the best jumping off points. Fly from home to...x or y.
What outfitters operate out of those places (x or y)?
Do any of those outfitters offer self-guided options? (Because you mentioned overwhelming options thus start with an outfitter)

I’m not sure about paraphrasing, up selling to wealthy types, but there are definitely outfitters who cater towards what I would call luxurious canoe trips. True, the cost of doing business is expensive in the north but some outfitters pride themselves on what some canoeists find over the top luxury.

There is a lot of land north of 60. Without knowing more about where you desire to go it is difficult to offer much advice. If you might be interested in the Yukon, then Whitehorse fits the bill of being north of 60. There are two good outfitters in town, who will rent canoes provide guided trips, or provide advice on going it alone. I can recommend Kanoe People, https://www.kanoepeople.com with their shop right on the bank of the river. KP has done well with me and my race team, providing space to work on configuring our canoe plus advice, tools, and parts.

I have not used Up North other than buying a few things from their shop, but I have heard they are very good as well.
