I am now planning on canoeing the full length of the Hanbury River, probably from Ptarmigan Lake to Warden's Grove on the Thelon. I at first thought of landing on Artillery Lake and going up the Lockhart River but I may not want to work that hard on this trip. So the plan is now to land on Ptarmigan Lake and go through the Hanbury Portage. Looking at Google Earth there appear to be a couple of good beaches for a float plane to pull up to in the Northwest portion of Ptarmigan Lake. Has anyone landed on Ptarmigan Lake, and if so, where did you pull up to shore?
