Hello,

I'm looking for information in regards to getting a tow from the mouth of the Back River in Chantrey Inlet to Gjoa Haven. Information relevant from the last 5 years would be the most helpful!

Thanks

I'd try contacting some of the community services and asking around about who has a boat and is knowledge about the route to Chantrey Inlet.

Try the likes of wildlife/conservation officer, rangers, RCMP, etc.

Thanks! That was my plan.

I was just wondering if anyone had a reference for someone who has given them a tow in the last few years!

My wife and I ran up along the coast Chantrey Inlet to Cape Britannia and found it well worth the effort. At Cape Britannia we hooked a ride to Gjoa Haven by an Inuit family. I'll put some photos and thoughts up of that area if I can find them.

this is what I was told was the "nurses station" by a Robert Perkins. I believe it was a rendezvous for his pick up.

I have some more photos but I'm sure you get the idea. Now some thoughts. Save for some cliffs along the Queen Victoria Headland when we started out I found access acceptable except for having to surf ashore now and then. Tenting areas easily found but vulnerable to winds. There were habitable cabin in current use and at Cape Britannia there was a well established Inuit village. In fact there was a barrel of dried muskox meat. Not my style. Also many secured cabins. The season was late and when we had a chance secured a ride to Gjoa Haven with an Inuit family. No one spoke English except a boy who was not able to translate English into Inuktitut. since the thread has been dormant I thought it alright to redirect the topic.
