Dave DeMello's excellent article on the Tha-anne has been created from his
emails with me and includes lots of interesting information and photos

Hi Jay:
Thanks for gathering and posting this information. It's an outstanding contribution to the paddling community.
I'll get a link up pdq.

The article link
http://jneilson.freehostia.com/Tha-anne Nunavut.htm
didn't work for me though.
It's clearly wrong with that double space, but none of the following worked either:
http://jneilson.freehostia.com/Tha-anne.Nunavut.htm
http://jneilson.freehostia.com/Tha-anne/Nunavut.htm
http://jneilson.freehostia.com/Tha-anne.htm

EDIT:
Barbara found the link (I think); it's
http://jneilson.freehostia.com/Tha-anne%20Nunavut.htm

Thanks, Barbara!
I supplied the correct link in my previous post and deleted the incorrect one.

These links aren't working. Any idea if they have been reposted elsewhere??

Thanks Mark

Good point, links get broken and we lose access to great information and resources.

Jay's current website doesn't list or link to the Tha-anne info.

Reply? To the Tha-Anne River broken link. I don't know what I can do nor what you want. I do know the Tha-Anne River is a beautiful but demanding river and that getting there is problematic. I am not an orderly person and my vignettes would not be orderly. But one thing I am certain of is that it is not the Thlewiaza. Let me know.

Access to the Tha-Anne exist through the Kognak and the Kognak exist through the Thlewiaza via a portal exiting into Sealhole Lake. The Thlewiaza exist through P.G. Downes

From the put-in on the Kognak to White Mountain Lake was an easy rapid made difficult when I broke my double ended paddle. after crossing White Mountain Lake and Hawkes Lake we mad a significant descent with significant rapids with significant rocks until the reverse J curve at bottom.

After the reverse J curve rapid, the river calms with lots of sandy beaches.

I could put up more maps of rapids and portages but instead I am going to assume if you got this far you will be able to read the river and decide for yourself. Instead I thought some photos to give you a feel for this section of the Tha-Anne. Those who have done the Thlewiaza will notice the difference.
