Looking for canoe route recommendations that are:
1) kid friendly (ages 10 and 12)
2) multi day (3-9) canoe trip
3) no more than class 2 rapids (or higher but portage available)

We’ve done the St. Croix River Vanceboro to Kellyland (ME/NB), Lobster lake and the West Branch of the Penobscot River to Chesuncook (ME), Attean Pond-Moose river loop (ME), and Kejimkujik frozen ocean loop (NS). Planning a trip to the Allagash.

Other recommendations near Maine and eastern Canada?

Thanks. Portneuf and Batiscan are new to me. I’ll have to look into it.

Penobscot River Paddlers trail https://www.penobscotriverpaddlingtrail.org/
Aroostook River https://naturalatlas.com/rivers/aroostook-1001914
CaucomgomocLake, Ciss Stream, up thru Round Pond then up to Poland Pond. That island campsite on Poland Pond is really nice, as is the surrounding area.

Thank you, Robin! I’ll look into these too. Nice to have some options close to home.

The Port Neuf (near Port Neuf Sur Mer, NOT Quebec city): Takes you past a very touristy
area of Quebec know as the Saguenay. The Saguenay river makes something like a fiord and sea kayaking is
very popular in the area as is whale watching. Whales congregate at the confluence. The Port Neuf river is not completely wild like what you would find in central Quebec. The water is clear and there are good beaches and come rapids. Interestingly the shuttle was free (not sure if it still is) having something to do with the dams on the river. I believe that companies are providing some recreation services as a compromise for the dams. I've seen this a couple of times in Quebec but I'm not 100% sure of the rules on how this works. Curious though.
