The winning picture was not only an interesting picture but it also fit the "spring tripping" theme very well. Congrats

OK,
It was the Kootenay River March 09 and I had just finished my 16' Prospector stripper and HAD to paddle it. Put in at Ft. Steele and overnighted at a place called Ramparts. It was cold. Next day I continued on to Wardner. I was a little worried that the shelf-ice might not hold, but it did and I hauled the boat out and took the shot. The mountains in the background (the real stars of the show) are called the Steeples and form the eastern wall of the Rocky Mountain Trench which is a giant ditch that runs the length of BC and provides paddling for fools like me and explorers like David Thompson when he passed through in the early 1800's.
For those interested the Bear Mountain Prospector is based on molds taken from Bill Masons' own boat. For those not interested I accept your retching and groaning :D .

After the 2nd contest was over I posted this but it didn't create an overwhelming response.

I thought that you were asking how should things be changed. I didn't answer because I thought it was just right as it was. :D

All righty then!
Keep your eyeballs peeled for another photo contest.

It may be a little late for April but with a longer lead time for a May contest we should be able to break a record for the number of entries. Maybe the first prize could be tickets to watch the Leafs play golf against the Habs (after the Caps whip them 4 straight).

Who has a good idea for a theme, or is no theme preferred?

I've moved the posts of dunkin' and jwc41 to the thread where we asked for feedback/suggestions:
