Many thanks to the folks who entered their photos. It's always so difficult to choose only 3, because they are all so wonderful. Each photo tells a different story, and each strikes a chord with everyone, for different reasons.

Many thanks also to the members who took on the difficult task of choosing only 3 photos.

I've added the usernames of the entrants to the "photo credit" field in the Gallery. If I've made any mistakes, please let me know.

Here's the link to the Gallery for the August 2011 Photo Contest:

Mine is of my bowmate, Wizard, catching z's on an island on Wicksteed Lake in August. This is what it would look like if we were telepathic:

I sometimes envy you folks that travel with your dawg: a partner that is always available for a trip, that never disagrees with you and that eats out of your hand. Too bad he can't hold a paddle...

I'm hoping to hear the 'stories' behind the #1 and #2 pix, but here's mine:
First of all, I did not take the pic--my d in law did. I understood that was within the casual rules set by CCR.
Pic is taken at Wasaga Beach on July 1st w/e when most of the family came to visit. Gabe, age 14 mo, as well as 3 granddaughters---4, 4, and 3 thought the canoe was the best beach toy ever! They all got turns at being pushed and rocked in the safety of several inches of water. Gabe 'complained' when he was lifted out.
We had the 3 girls at the beach with the canoe last year and it went over so well that, this year, I decided to give them their own personalized paddles---pix below.

Hi and thanks for the votes!

Mine is a picture of a Temagami buddy of mine emerging from the mist at the 2009 Changing of the Seasons Celebration on Obabika Lake.

Hi all, the B&W photo is on a small beach west of Prince Rupert near the tail end of a trip out to the Dundas/Melville group. Ocean scenes on the west coast often lend themselves to B&W -- I have always loved the layered grey tones of the clouds, water and mountains.

I had just replaced my 8 yr old Nikon Coolpix 5400 with a Nikon Coolpix P300. Really impressed with the camera, superb images, battery life (took 4 days of photos and video on one battery, never touched my 2 spares) and compact size. Need to get a Hero cam for shots underway, there were a couple of 3 hr crossings we sailed with a healthy wind that I wished I had some images from. No way was I paddling with one hand and a non-water proof camera though.

More photos from that trip can be found here:
