Given that in the past four months both Dropbox and now Photobucket have ended their free image hosting service, myccr posters who would like to include images in their threads are left wondering where to turn to next. The myccr forum suffers if thread after thread has blanks where images used to be.
I checked the site FAQ for info on including photos in threads and found this -
» Can I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.
So - can we use myccr as an image host? If so, does the image itself appear or only a link to the image? Any clarification would be appreciated!
I am hoping that this can be a solution to the lost Photobucket image hosting that more than a few members have noted in the past couple of days.

CCR members can definitely use CCR's gallery as a host for the pics displayed on myccr.com. The pictures will show up as images, not just as links. To see an example of this JMC has submitted many trip reports under the NorthWest Territories & Nunavut & uploaded images for these reports - for an example see here: http://www.myccr.com/phpbbforum/viewtop ... 24&t=43343
However, right now users must ask us to get registered because we have old software for our gallery that cannot keep out spam on its own & it is a big problem to update it.
We are currently doing a few upgrades behind the scenes here & one of the upgrades includes installing a new gallery. At that time members should be automatically able to upload their photos to the new gallery & they should display.
Right now, if you send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting an account for our Gallery, I can make one for you & you can upload pictures. All of these pictures will still work & remain accessible once our new Gallery is going.
Hope this helps!!
