In order to meet the minimum dollar requirement for an order to a vinyl transfer place I had a couple of extra decals made up.

They were for an old Discovery 174 I repaired, and read "Fat Bastard" but my wife wouldn't let me put them on the canoe.

I generally name by canoes POS immediately after I fall out of them.

Real men wear pink canoes.. Note Bob telling Pete where to go again. Don't paddles belong in the water?

Old Town Penobscot called "Baby" because it was my first and we babied it.
A Steve Zapf Merlin called "Rose"
A Redbird design called, what else "Redbirds"
Haven't yet named the new 16' 6" homemade boat I just bought.
Had a scanoe we called "The Barge"

Have friends that named theirs: Baby Jr. or just Junior for short. Precious. And "The Big Green Boat" Just good fun

The 68lb tandem is affectionately referred to as "The Barge" both on the water and the portages and the Osprey, "Shirley P" after my Mother.

Cheers

After looking at pictures of my newest boat a few times, a Novacraft Trapper, I thought the "S.S. Minnow" was appropriate? Guess that makes me the "Skipper?"

I had an old glass canoe, brand unknown, that we used the first year. It was a bit of a slug. Anyway, my nickname was Cougar, and it was my canoe, so we ended up calling it the Cougnoe.

All voyageur canoes....I paddle the:

"Raquette River Evaporator" (a 32-foot woodstrip Adirondack 90-miler racer)
"Slenda Glenda" (an unusually narrow 28-foot woodstrip Adirondack 90-miler racer)
"Texan" (a very large 34-foot graphite/foam core Yukon 1000-mile racer)
"Adirondack Voyageur" (a 28-foot woodstrip Yukon YRQ and Y1K racer - my avatar)
"Compass Rose" (a new custom 28-foot woodstrip Yukon racer)

Several other tandem and solo canoes I paddle don't seem to have permanent names.

I have an official Evergreen Prospector affectionately known as "Scrapee Scarlet", but mostly just 'Scrapee'.
A recently acquired pink Mad River Canoe Flashback was named "Pinko" as a reference to her communist past.
A brand new Nova Craft Ocoee has not earned anything yet.

edit: The Ocoee was named Mary Mayhem.

And we are buying a fourth.

Only named the 1st canoe I bought. Anemone - A Bell Fusion. Still have spent more days in that canoe than any other.

Built a Winters Quetico stripper from an old redwood picnic table my mother was getting ready to put on the curb for free. I named her "Picnic".

Our Evergreen prospector is named The Happy Adventure after Farley Mowat's Boat Who Wouldn't Float. Thankfully it has not followed in the footsteps of its namesake.
