It's traditional to name watercraft, but I don't know many people who have named their canoe or kayak. We mulled it a bit but came up with "Watching Rainbows" as the moniker for our new Clipper. We had a dog named Pennylane and a car called Strawberry Fields and so kept with the Beatles theme, Watching Rainbows being an obscure, recorded but never released tune. We like the relaxing, holiday tone too. Might even write it on the bow... Anyone else?

Periodically in a strong tailwind with three foot chop I call my shearwater a harlot.

I have started calling my old wood and canvas OT "Emma Dean" after John Wesley Powell's boat. My powerboat is named "Dark Star."

No but we named our food barrel "The Beast" and after a few days when it lost weight it was called "The Tamed Beast".

Old Pinetree Abitibi... the Tub. The only redeeming feature of the Tub is the tremendous initial stability which makes it great for fishermen (who won't fish in anything that doesn't have barge-like properties).

OT but Algonquin related... when I worked in the fisheries research station on Opeongo there were several motorboats to choose from, with our fave being the Grey Slut. Always ready and willing to go, anytime, anywhere. Looked a little worn out on the water but more than made up for it with her performance.

We call ours "The Beast". It is a 20 year old Old Town ABS canoe that just won't die. We've had it wrapped around rocks, smashed up, etc but it keeps coming back to life! The thing weighs a TON and is brutal to portage...but sure is nice not to have to "baby" it :)

We have a red OT tripper named "Big Red", a red OT Penobscot named "Penny", and an Esquif prospector named "Skiffy". We also have an Esquif raven but that one doesn't really have a name other than "the little blue one"

A few of the canoes I really developed an affection for. Currently, I have a Dagger Reflection that I enjoy paddling that I call "Blue Belle."
