Hello, I'm co-instructing an advanced RCABC course this coming weekend and wanted to reference the old British Canoe Union (International) star awards, and coaching .pdf's. They were excellent resources...

Unfortunately they are no longer online and the BCU has... shriveled. Did anyone happen to download them all before the big restructuring (gutting), or know of an archive where I can get them?

Would be much appreciated!
Thank-you in advance for any assistance.

Are these the star award docs your looking for?

https://www.westminsterboatingbase.co.uk/uploads/BCU%201%20Star%20Syllabi%20V3-0%20Oct13%20(2).pdf

I do still have my BCU coaching handbook

Am asking folk back in the UK if they have copies

That is definitely a start Chris. Much appreciated. How did you find these?
There was so much good information on the old BCU site.
I hope to archive what I find into a .zip file so I don't lose it again.
Thank-you!

Google Fu!

If you have a specific list of the documents you're looking for I can ask friends in the UK that I sued to paddle with.

Found the email and address of the past BCU North America representative, Bill Lozano. Will be emailing him.

With a bit of creative web-address head-scratching I did find the Star-Award material on the CANI site. Downloaded, sorting through, and stuffing my brain.

I have an (issued) BCU Coaching Logbook, and a set of crib-cards for Level-1 Coach. Not much really - I was busy chasing the stars. What would be most relevant are the Canoe Level-1 and Level-2 Coaching manuals.
As an instructor I want to have a lot to offer.

Thanks Chris.

Boat specific star awards disappeared around 15 years ago, maybe more. When I was doing my level 2 coach training I had to take basic kayak skills course as I was expected to be able to teach new paddlers in both sorts of craft even though all the instruction I was giving was for the Open Canoe Association, a canoe specific group.
