as long you use the guy (x8)
and it's an affordable buy.
the pic shows no guyout points, but they're there alright. big beefy metal rings.
simple fast setup.
but if I was pitching on the outside of a plane it be the trango 2, despite that it's more expensive than the going price..
i gotta pack it with ibuprofin, to manage the neck pain.
but that baby is as slick and as stubborn as a grassy hump in the blowing tundra.

The Eureka Alpenlite 2xt looks interesting. Price is a lot better too! I think I may look into this tent. Thank you for the suggestion and input!!!

I’m using the Trango right now and not really a fan of it simply because of the dark blue and red coloured fly. It’s real dark in there. Not a problem when your sleeping but when your wind/rain bound its not so good for reading and hanging out. The old orange and purplish fly was much better.

@Sam if no rush and if you want the tent consider Sail, often discount to 375$ brand new pre-covid.
what do you use on chair1 legs if anything? any super lightweight/minimal bulk options? the mesh mat thing that is around, does that work well to prevent even say an inch of sinking?

@molly ya i was wondering how it looked in there with the darker colors. i think they also moved the vestible pole to under fly in that model.

Renogami, I use the mesh mat on my Helinox Chair 1. I highly recommend it...works on every surface and minimizes stress on the tent bottom too. I’ve tried tennis balls and the leg actually tore through the tennis ball. The mat can also fit inside the sack the chair comes in.

Now I’m considering the MEC TGV 2 person tent. It comes with great reviews...I cannot find the Eureka Alpenlit for sale anywhere. No stock.

Sam

Just saw MEC had a great sale on the MEC TGV 4 Person so I bought one. I really like the pole design on the 4 person over the 2 person version. I will post a review on it.

@Sam good choice. good tent for your purpose. good price.
and importantly, MEC return policy is top notch (and cost-less).
which functionally makes the tent more bomber than it is lol.
thanks for chair1 info.

Check out the Eureka El Capitan. Might be a bit heavier than you want but the price is good and it is a solid tent. Search for a used Sierra designs stretch dome expedition. Best tent ever made in my opinion. Had mine 30 years and still bomber. Unfortunately discontinued.

"Eureka El Capitan" very solid tent. I have the "3". Get a folding stadium seat. Open your sleeping bag and put it in. Slip into your bag and pull your sleeping bag over yourself and the seat.
