I have looked at double blades and don’t know where to start selecting one.Any tips would be appreciated

Borrow one. Usually depends on your height, your attack angle ( low or high angle) the width of your paddling station.

Old school used to say 270 cm for canoes. Most dedicated soloists can use way shorter like 230 cm. Sea kayakers used to use 230.. now they use 200's or 205.

There are paddles that have an adjustable paddle angle to feather or not depending on what you want and some can adjust in length too.

Try to keep the blade weight very light.. weight does count over the day and also shaft weight counts as you are always holding it up
