I know that several, maybe many, members here use double blade paddles when soloing, but I'm curious about whether or not anyone also uses a paddle leash for them.

So, who uses paddle leashes with their double blade paddles?

Thanks, cheers.

I use a paddle leash almost all the time for a double bladed paddle - both with kayaks & solo canoes. I'm usually out paddling alone so it minimizes the chances of losing it, one way or another. I don't find it interferes at all with paddling & gives me much more peace of mind.

Not me. I carry a spare single blade( easier for storage)

Having a leash around my ankle while I am in the water does not give me the warm fuzzies.

Please experience this in a calm warm spot. I did not. I needed a knife.

A paddle leash is unnecessary, and creates the risk of entanglement. You will never ever see a whitewater kayaker using a paddle leash, and whitewater kayakers have a significant chance of coming out of their kayak in difficult whitewater conditions. The only people I see using paddle leashes are beginner kayakers in recreational kayaks.
