I have an old canvas canoe pack -(Artic Canvas - made in North Bay- very similar to a Woods #200) that has developed a very musty odour.

Does anybody have a good method to lessen the smell.

Doubt if I can ever completely get rid of it.

Try soaking it in a tub of water with some vinegar added, then agitate and soak several times... I dilute the vinegar about 1:1 or 2:1 water to vinegar as a cleaner, maybe you can dilute it more for canvas. Prob shouldn't be mixed with soap since you want the acid to kill any bacteria that could be causing the smell.

I had some old towels that were forgotten for years in a basement and went musty... washing in regular Tide laundry detergent freshened them up.

Powdered Oxiclean Free and blue Dawn dish soap. Mix together and let it soak overnight. Rinse out and hang dry in the sun the next day.

I use that for any sporting equipment starting to get a funk to it, base layers, work out clothes, etc. Years of sins exorcised overnight.

Ozone! Do you have any sports/hockey stores in your area? Most have an "Ozone Cupboard" into which you put anything that has an odour. If it takes the stink out of hockey gear I have no doubt it will work on your pack. I used it for a very old wool coat. Worked like a charm.

Is there a portable Ozone Closet for your car? My daughter and her oldest have the stinkiest hockey cars.

Actually there is. It's what professional detailers use to get the stink out of cars.
