But $550 is too steep for a tarp, and it weighs 19lbs, and as such must pack down fairly bulky.
I also wonder how easy it is to set up with the “flame resistant inner roof”. It’s hard to tell from photos if any cat cut tarp actually has that wind-proof batwing shape; most have \___/ sides instead of the <> shape of our bat wing tarp, which would increase the coverage by perhaps preclude cat cut sides. I’m guessing that there is more fabric waste and design challenges involved when incorporating cut cut sides.
For funsies I weighed our 19x19 bat wing tarp. Loosely packed in an oversized compression bag (not OEM), with guylines, without poles or stakes, 3lbs 70z. It can be set between two properly spaced trees, or one tree/one pole.

I have a coastal camping & desert river wind tripping friend who lusts after that <> bat wing, but in years of searching have never found another with that shape. Glad I’ve taken good care of it; even the PU coating is still intact, not delaminating and vomitous smelling. I think stored loosely bagged, not tightly compressed, helps in that regard.
