Has anyone looked at the Patagonia Storm Racer Jacket?

It designed to be worn over a running vest, which means it might also function well over a life jacket.

Men's version.

The Women's version is on sale.

$340. for an ultralight emergency jacket. There are much cheaper and more rugged options for multi-day canoe trips that weigh a Clifbar or two more and would do the job just as well. The Marmot Precip Jacket, my current rain jacket, retails for $135. but is occasionally on sale for 20% less. I got it for $100. from Altitude Sports last year. Go up a size if you want to wear your life jacket underneath!

I got a Marmot in the spring, when I finally needed it I was quite disappointed to see that the DWR on the new jacket was spotty at best. Wearing it over a fleece for a short while in summer resulted in it being wet on the inside. That "short while" was nowhere near a long enough time for sweat to have wicked through the fleece to condense inside the jacket.

I can remedy the lack of a DWR coating with aftermarket Nikwax waterproofing, but personally I would avoid Marmot and go with a North Face in the same price range.
