Ray, I have an Ostrom, 74 -82 L Alpamayo internal frame hiking pack .

Frame size: Medium (24”)
Shoulder straps: Small
Waist belt: Medium

We are the original owners. It was purchased in 2005 for our daughter to use on a Canadian cross-country and Guatemalan mission trip.

After this trip it has been used just a few times on light canoe trips.

I have it listed on FB Marketplace. Here is a link:

I have a 90s vintage Ostrom canoe pack and found a similar one on Marketplace last autumn that I gifted to a friend this past Christmas. I'm not sure what model they are though - I would think they're just the standard, large traditional-style (duluth pack?) canoe packs made out of heavy-duty cordura. Up here in Thunder Bay lots of people have them and I'm sure some are just collecting dust in people's basements/garages. What are the features of the Portage Specialist?

Each Ostrum model is quite different. The internal frame comes in small, medium and large, and it is important that you get the right size. The large frame Wabakimi that our youngest uses is too tall for me!

It's a Small day pack size, complete with an internal frame, side pockets, and front pocket. Pretty sure in back in the day they came in 2 sizes, 35L, and 55L I would take either one (or both haha if the opportunity came up). If they did come in more than one frame size I would take whatever I can get my hands on. I have a pretty extensive collection of packs, but this one continues to be hard to get my hands on. The link below should take you to an archive site listing the ones I'm looking for. Its fun to look at if nothing else. :)

if there are lots of ostrom packs in thunderbay,
a monthy post of an ad in thunderbay kijiji would help
and if you know anyone there, can get them to post it on boards at camp stores, etc
that's what i would be doing to complete a collection.

Alright, Perhaps this will gain some more success. I have a wabikimi I am ready to part with. Made in Canada. Did anyone have a portage specialist they would want to trade?
