Can't wait to get the boat out on the water! I've got 4 paddling trips planned for this season, ranging from 1 to 3 weeks long. The food is pretty much dehydrated & packed. Just waiting for May to arrive.

Great pic, I like that one! I always get bumbed out this time of year. As much as I look forward to the warmer seasons, I really love the outdoors in winter.

I grew up in central Europe and there spring is (typically) such a gentle shift into summer, starting in February.

Over here, it's a back-and-forth struggle between powerful forces where eventually summer wins. That above picture captures that concept: the deep and puffy snow, the open water of the creek and the human balancing his way through all that. All in a landscape of pure white and with dark trees in the back...

Winter isn't giving up without a fight this year. Woke up to -9C this morning and looks like we're good for another week at least. I have to say that I'm happy to see winter hanging on after the really early thaw last year.

I'm actually quite pleased that the temps will be dipping into the negative teens this weekend. I have some serious snowshoeing planned for this Saturday north of Montreal and the snow will be crusted over nice and solid. Sunny skies and crispy white snow are all right in my book.

We have a rented cottage until March 31st. After that the 4 feet deep snow can turn to mush and I won't mind.
