Yeah I saw that on facebook ... could be interesting. I've never been to Waterloo either so kill 2 birds with one stone maybe.

Although that said - they could have chosen a more central location like Peterborough that's friendlier to those of us in the east.

Just a start for number 1, we did discuss a number of future options.
How it goes will depend on the turn out and reaction.
Just so you know the "we" was a fairly large group of outdoor enthusiasts and we discussed a wide variety of possibilities.

Well thanks for organizing it in any case. Hmmm, google is now giving my 5h15 minutes to get there - I thought the 8 hours last night seemed a little far for Waterloo. Maybe that was accounting for traffic at the time.

Markham at 4 hours would be nice :-) And hotels in Markham are pretty cheap - I go there on business a fair bit.

Hi Folks! Just wanted to jump in and clarify ....

I organize the Annual KW Canoe Symposium, and saw a need for an Annual "Ontario Based" Winter Camping Symposium. After much consultation with a group of like minded individuals (including Jedi Jeff, Kevin Callan and others) it was decided that Waterloo works best....why? Partly because that is where I am based. There were other reasons.

I guess that the fact that the other symposiums I was aware of are significant drives for those of us in Ontario made me think that an Ontario based symposium would help with that.

I hope that the exceptional lineup of speakers ( Jim Baird from "Alone", Kevin Callan, David Lee, Martin Pine, Tierney Angus and Marian and Duane Sonntag) will make the trip to Waterloo worthwhile.

Check out the details, and get your tickets at www.ontariowintercamping.ca

Hope to see a few of you there!

I am going to try my best to make it - will depend on both work and family things happening at the time. I will know better as the date draws a bit closer. Thanks for organizing.

I posted this earlier.... I guess the internet gremlins had a snack.
Water song was the work horse for this, and deserves all the credit for binging it together to get off the ground.
I know lots of ideas were thrown back and forth and who knows where this will lead in the next couple of years.
I have already seen a lot of sharing the face book page.
There seems to be a lot of interest in this type of activity.
As a relatively new to this (going into year 8) activity, this should speed up the learning curve for those that want to try it.
All I can say is if I had known hot tenting was that comfortable,
I would have started it much sooner (started at 54.)

Sounds like fun! Good on you for making it happen.

And that tent on the web page needs a flysheet. ;)
