Anyone ever fished at Esker Lakes PP?
The Ontario Parks website says that pike and walleye are native but walleye are native to the lake at my cottage and its a lost cause trying to catch one there.
I'm looking to go for the May long weekend and any info would be really appreciated.
thanks

I was there this summer. According to the fishing Brochure I got while I was there. There are Pike in 2 lakes (Gourlay and Lulu) They are interior lakes (2 portages to get to them) The lakes mainly have trout. (Speckled, Lake, Splake and Rainbow.)

If you want more details let me know.

I was there in August. I only made one trip to the Pike Lakes and did not fish them at all. I was the only person on the lakes that I saw that day. I don't know how much they are fished ?

I grew up in that area and fished that park before they developed it. There are some beautiful fish in those lakes but they are hard to catch because you are not allowed to use live bait. Most of the lakes are stocked with specs and I have seen 6 lbs + taken, plus I have been in there in the fall when they were almost on shore. I don't know if they actually spawn in there or just go through the motions. I caught 4 pike out of Lulu one evening after supper that ranged between 10 and 15 lbs each but that is unusual. A friend of mine caught a 32 and 28 lb pike out of that lake one night and a 16 and 18 lb lake trout, but I have never known him to be overly concerned with rules. If you move to the East about two miles you get to Howard Lake (the Beaverhouse chain) and that is all pike pickerel and bass.
