I've killed a lot of animals in my line of work. Over the years, I've adopted a philosophy more like Hoop's. I love the thrill of fishing and I love eating fresh fish. But if I'm not in the mood to clean a fish after I catch it, I let it go. I always figure that 75% of the fun is in catching the fish and the eating is a good bonus, but if I don't feel like cleaning it why not let it go so it could be caught again?

I've cleaned fish plenty of times in an august night, placed it in a ziplock and hung it in the bearbag for the morning. Never had a problem (best to remove skin before doing so). I always remember in highschool leaving a stringer out at my uncles dock overnight. It had three bullhead and one walleye on it. The bullhead just winked at me the next morning, next to the half eaten walleye hooked in between them. Them snapping turtles are pretty discriminatory!!! Even, then I felt the need to release those bullheads (I didn't have a nail to drive through their heads on hand anyhow).
