Jean Beliveau is gone. I watched him play and he was a beautiful hockey player. At times an artist as much as any dancer.
I met him three times in passing. He was pleasant, friendly, and didn't make me feel as if I was speaking with an elevated star. Very human, a really nice guy.

My father used to live in Montreal, and played two championship games in the Forum in the 1940's (Provincial Midget and City High School). He had a health crisis back in the 90's (pre-internet)....we wanted to take him to a game, but there was no way to get tickets in those days. My mother wrote Jean, and his secretary phoned her 2 weeks later....made 4 tickets available for us to see Mario Lemieux play.

She said not to tell anyone....her nephews had been after her for years to get tickets!

I will miss him, as a Canadiens Fan, and as a Canadian. Wish he had areed to be the Gov General!
