This same sort of thing happened on the Alone show...10 so called experts (and a few of them were pretty good) and how many went home after only a week? And a few because they got the heebeegeebee's lol.

I like the above comment "you gotta like yourself first". That is very true.

Mr Corey had a great idea, getting away from it all and blogging about it. There's a few folks I know of here and elsewhere who'd do an excellent job of it. There are some incredible trip reports with incredible photography; can you imagine rather than viewing a trip report at the end of a trip weeks or months later, getting instead a trickle feed of of it "live" every day or so? That would be a blog worth following. Mind you, the technology would have to be in place and working.
I can only assume this fellow bit off more than he could chew. He did prepare to a certain degree, but perhaps not well enough. We can all pick apart his lack of planning, experience, fortitude, raison d'être etc...too easy. What I don't understand is, if he was fine and unhurt, still had food and equipment, why didn't he just walk back out again? (I'm assuming it was a hike and no paddling involved) Walk in for a week, feeling overwhelmed?, walk back out...and blog about it. Did his technology let him down? (Ironic) Or perhaps plain old fear? (No shame there) Did he have a "WTF am I doing here!?" moment? (Who hasn't had one of those?)
I'm unimpressed by his "reasons" for doing this in the first place, and very unimpressed by his decision to be extracted. There might be much more to his story than we're getting. In any case, I hope there'll be no blog about it.

Probably watched too much Les Stroud on TV... Survivorman does not adequately prepare one for the rigors and hardship. Most likely a victim of bad advice.

There are more qualified experts out there. Learn from them.

I was wondering how long the guy would make it. I thought for sure he would at least get to the end of his packed food before packing it in.

Glad to hear he quit while still alive, and this didn't turn into one of those other type of stories.

Still...why was this on the CBC website in the first place?

Look at the recently posted trip reports here on CCR....this guy could take a few lessons from the folks here, eh?

I think instead of Off topic forum we can create the Comedy Forum. Honestly I havent laughed so hard. Especially the comments section.

I walked to the store today and cut the grass, if any one at CBC is interested.

Oh, and I found myself, I was just 100 yds from home
