Awesome video! Looking forward to trying one of these out myself. Care to share your opinion on open vs closed?

you mean open ledge vs partial deck? open is lighter, easier to empty.
i think i'd go open version...

Not dry, but the capacity for 12 packs is limited.

FWIW, I paddled one on the Lower mad a few weeks ago. I was not really that impressed. Its pretty sluggish and really heavy. Very hard to accelerate and there is not really any glide to speak of.

It is VERY dry and probably great for Tennessee style rivers where you never really have to paddle forward. More of shift and drop. Boat placement was really easy and surfing was as good as any open canoe can be expected.

This is a boat for steep rivers. Not for the Ottawa or the Mad.

Tons of hype over at C-boats, but I am glad I tried it first... That being said my go to boat is now a project paddled on my butt with a training blade. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I preferred the zoom, zephyr, ocoee, type boats. If I were to go creaking with a real blade it would be in a C1 burn or something along those lines.

So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Doug... you do NOT want to go on a trip in this beast.

Oh yeah... that video reminds me why I don't take Scriver's line.... Nice shots though. Was that moosefest?

Dan,

Out of curiosity, why not a L'Edge for the Mad or Ottawa? Is it because of the long flat water sections combined with the slowness of the boat?

I just bought one for our steep, creeky stuff north of Superior. The selling point for me was its plastic hull and dryness.

I concur with Paul, if I was to get one ( which I have) I'd go with an open one, it would be lighter an easier to dump. The demo boat I have is decked and the gunnels have arrived, that deck is coming off. The last time I was at Minden......after three carries to the top my neck was busted, through it back on the truck and grabbed the Taureau. One good thing about the Ledge.....you will never wear it out, it should last you along time if you arn't getting into a yak half the time. :D

This was my first year I missed the Moose with Paul and Mark......no worries Paul you get to see my ugly face and hear me snore next year.

The Ottawa is big. Really big. Threading the needle at mckoy is going to be a real challange I this boat. Otoh dragons tounge becomes a possibility- for others. If that's your gig then this boat is going to be awesome. Personally, I find I just click and make friends with some boats and not with others. I am a big guy at 6"2 and I found cross strokes to be pretty awkward on this wide hull (yes I am out of practce from yakking) Al, how did yp find cross strokes? I also thought the hull was pretty floppy, although not nearly as bad as the pocket canyon I paddled at gat fest.

Man I sound pretty bitter..... it's probably due to angeneral sense of enuii with open boating right now. So take my opinions with a grain of salt.

I have been having the most fun with long fast open boats for graceful cruising down ciii or my kayak for playing on waves. The inbetween of short open boating in rocket civ+with consequences is not really my bag right now.

Cross strokes??? Because I paddle the Taurea so much I'm use to quick short and low cross overs. Any of the higher gunnel or decked boats do take me a little time to get use to given that the Taurea is more of a hybrid between open and C1.
I can't beat up on the Ledge to much, I find its only real fault is its weight. What I'd like to see is it made from T-form......that would be sweet!!!! But by cutting off those heavy decks and removing those over-sized thwarts and dropping in lighter ones you should be able to shed 10+ lbs.
