We've been doing the Salmon as a spring river for years -- but always above Tamworth. However, I happened upon CES Frank's The Canoe and Whitewater (1977) which recommends a long section below -- from Roblin more less down to the 401. Frank makes it seem like long continuous stretches of Class II with maybe some occasional Class III.

Has anyone done this section of the river recently? Is it worth doing?

I have done the Lower Salmon from Roblin to Kingsford Park a couple of times. We camp on Gull Lake, do the Upper one day and the Lower the next day. I have not paddled it past Kingsford Park.

It's mostly class 1 class 2. The upper is more challenging. The lower is fun though. There are a couple of dams to lift around and one crazy class 5.

The put in has changed in recent years. The old put in was an unassumed road in Roblin. It is now private property. You might have to put in where hwy 41 crosses the Salmon.

Here is the route from a Paddlers Guide to Eastern Ontario White Water Rivers. https://1drv.ms/b/s!Ao9zkWqUEIdOmxl4Zij_6FnOXMIM
