Each rescue is unique , this one is on the Courtenay river which is subject to tidal influence , the tide was ebbing for the first 90 mins of the rescue . From the video it appeared a navigation marker piling had a couple logs tangled up in it , then two older ladies got tangled up in it , an outrigger canoe then came along and someone decided to try and help whereupon they too got pinned . All in all it ended well but poor decisions were made , the outrigger canoe leader in particular made a bad call , it went from 2 in trouble to 8 .
