Looking for more information on the Baidarka kayak.
Any good websites out there?
I'm interested in researching the design further.
Like the idea of skin-on-frame idea.
I have the Book "Building Skin-On-Frame Boats" by Robert Morris.

Any thoughts on the design?

If you can find or borrow a copy John Brand's Little Kayak Book Vol. I has a niec boat. Also George Dyson wrote a book named Baidarka whihc has some good information although Dyson tends to go a bit overboard on the qualities of Baidarkas.

There is a mailing list on Baidarkas as well although I can't think of its URL right now. Maybe a search on Google will turn it up.

As for the type I have analysed several and paddled a few and they do not strike me as superior hull forms although they do have an interesting (but difficult to bulld) shape.

Two websites for you to check out. The first one is run by Greg Stamer, a paddler that has really done a lot to bring Greenland style paddling to this continent. I did a training camp with him two years ago. He has been to Greenland a number of times and has won his division in the championships that are held there every year. He is a very nice guy and you will find an amazing amount of information on the site. Depending on how you want to use your SOF you can find out how to adjust the the anthropomorphic measurements Morris provides. If you want to build a great rolling kayak you will want to make some changes.

I've never checked this out but it is a link from the qajaqusa website.

Also, you could consider coming to Michigan in August for the training camp. Let me know if you want more information on it.
