 Post subject: Cedar Strip vs. Plywood

Two boats.
Identical in size and shape.

One is made of cedar strip.
The other is made of (the modern) plywood construction method.

Which one would weigh less?

That depends on care you take and on how tough you want the boat to be. My stitch & glue canoes are the same size & approximately the same shape as the Swift Osprey. The first weighs 44 pounds & the second is 40 pounds. They each contain about 18 pounds of plywood.
The first one hit the water for a brief test paddle at 28 pounds or so. The outside was glassed (too much resin) but the inside was mostly bare wood except for the filleted & taped seams. All it really needed to be useable for tripping was a seat & some varnish. So 30 pounds is achievable.
