Other than 2 oz. what are the differences between the 4 & 6 oz. fiberglass cloth?

Which is one is the tighter weave?
Which one takes more epoxy?
I assume that the 6 oz. cloth is denser and thus stronger?

Any websites out there concerning this?

Website has a lot of dead links but you could call them. Don't really know how "expert" they are but when I asked "how much epoxy do I need for this strip of Kevlar on the bottom of my canoe" the answer was...."This much" and they were EXACTLY right.

My second question was "is this epoxy as good as that stuff which costs a lot more" the answer was "it's the same stuff except for the labels" Too early to tell if he was right but it seems to be holding well.

Do some searches for fiberglass and Hexcel and BGF.

Hexcel and BGF appear to be the to "biggies" in the glass fiber/weaving business. They both have specification down loads that will allow you to compare different fibers and weaves.

In general, there are a large number of different weaves and cloths, for example, you might find 5 or 6 patterns all around 6 oz/yd, and all with different strengths.

Without knowing the weave pattern/model number, it's hard to tell much of anything about a given cloth. Note that Hexcel and BGF in general use a different numbering system for their weave patterns, though some are the same.

I have only used 6 oz both inside and out. If I were to do it again, 6oz on the outside and 3 oz on the inside.

What would the weight difference be between, glassing it in 4 vs. 6 oz cloth?

When it refers to the weight in oz., what is it a measurement of?
a square inch?

the weight referrs to sq yard.But that doesn't include the resin. It takes less resin to wet out and fill 4 oz.

It is pretty close if you just double the cloth weight. So 4 ounce needs 8 ounces/square foot, inside and out. 8 oz being the glass and resin combined total.
