Here is a link to what looks to be a sickly beautiful new product MEC is selling.
Looks to be a tribute to both Prospector's enduring popularity and a nod to the old wood bottom boats but weighs in at 19k
Layup is ultralight carbon fibre and Kevlar
Gunwales are made of ash

The picture shown (a cedar/canvas hull) does not seem to match the description (kevlar/carbon fibre hull).

I don't think MEC knows what it is describing. A 16 foot canoe with a capacity of 1000 pounds? Just happened to measure out at exactly 1000 pounds, did it? I don't trust their boat weight claim either. The boat has wooden ribs. Even if skinned in carbon/Kevlar (a stupid choice of materials for the exterior), the boat will not be that light.
