Just saw a video of this boat. Has anyone got a spec breakdown? Designed load, beam, length to width ratio etc? It seems like its another DY design so you know its gonna be nice but no fair of them to show without telling!

Thanks,

Moonman.

Nice size for extended solo trip and/or shorter trips with large dog along.

Too bad it was not designed with the option of kneeling and using a straight shaft.

DY designs with a particular user in mind. I suspect in this case he wanted to modernize the old Sawyer recreational racing canoes of the 1980s. Most paddlers do not kneel and racers almost always sit and use a bent shaft and hit and switch. The bent gunwales allow for a vertical stroke.

The other canoe makers in the rec racing field are Savage River and GRB Newman.

I think we have to realize the future of canoeing is not in new wilderness tripping designs. People now want day jaunts. That you could pack for a trip is a plus in this design

Lots of other Swift options set up for kneeling or combo with a movable seat. Check out the Keewaydin 15 or the Prospector 14. Both come with the option of a movable seat as in up for kneeling or down for sitting and using a double blade paddle.

When paddling kneeled with a straight shaft paddle you may in fact be going slower in this kind of design than in others....
