I’m looking to replace gunnels on my Hellman canoe. I have new gunnels for it. Can anyone recommend someplace or business that does gunnel repair in the GTA or Kawarthas (Ontario)?

Sam82,

So, you are looking for someone to install these for you?

Peter at Tendercraft has all kinds of supplies plus will look after repairs for you. He is in Mississauga near the Lakeshore and Cawthra 1-800-588-4682.

In Kawarthas, Dick Persson at Buckhorn Canoe Company is good guy to contact.
Phone: 705-657-2601

Hope that helps a bit. Bruce

You could also check here:

Not too far away from you, 65km from Oshawa (a bit less from the barn)

Are they wood gunwales or aluminium or something? Cause wood gunwales are pretty easy to install on your own, usually only a drill is needed.

Thank you for the replies fellas!

They are aluminum gunnels. I’ve only paddled the boat twice I believe so it would be nice to get it fixed!

Again thanks so much for the replies!!

Sam
