I would love to do a trip on the barren lands this summer. I would like to go for about 2 months and perhaps split it in 2 parts if that makes it easier for some people to participate. I like to do fishing and hiking on eskers. The area that interests me most is the Elk River because there are so many eskers there. I am flexible as far as the route goes. I have researched a number or routes and did about 10 long trips up there so coming up with a route is not a big deal. It really needs to fit the skill level of the paddlers. I am in good health, live in Ontario and canoeing and being on the land is my favourite thing to do. iva.kinclova@gmail.com |

Three friends and I, from the UK, are hoping to paddle from Yellowknife to Baker Lake via Pike's Portage, the Hanbury and Thelon rivers. The COVID situation and the Ukraine war have made us hesitate to book flights etc, but we are pretty much ready to go kit-wise. Now, at the last moment, it's possible that one of the group might not be able to travel, so a place might become available... Be warned we are a "mature" group of men, all over 60 years old! We might be to old and doddery for you. We are planning an unhurried trip with lots of fishing and mooching around. We hope to arrive in Yellowknife late June and set out within a couple of days of arrival. We'll be allowing 60-70 days for the trip, plus flight days out and back. Let me know if you'd be at all interested in joining us |
