Looking for a padding partner after medical issues have sidelined a friend from Manitoba.
I am in the Kitchener area.

Looking to save money on the shared drive up as it cost $400 for the 20 hour drive there and back last year.
We could meet up somewhere?

Timing is negotiable but looking August/ July 2021.
7-9 nights in the park. + 2 days driving each way. Let's call it two weeks total.
Early plans are for utilizing the Lund Lake access for a loop.

Want to tandem a canoe - I have a 16 prospector (47Ibs).

Also, I have a dog who will be coming along - she is in her second season backcountry camping, so she knows the routine fairly well. ( got 30 nights last year) She is very friendly!

Not looking to single carry - double carry is fine as most portages are fairly short up there.
I am in my 50's.
This will be my 7th trip up and know the place pretty good.

Have my own tent for me and the pup.
Would be good to share meals to lighten that load.

Look forward to chatting with someone/ group of 3? about this amazing place in the boreal forest in NW Ontario!!!

cheers!

Glen

PM if interested!

Never got up because fires closed the park for much of the summer.

Looking to go up this time later into August or early September..
Let me know

Glen.
I read your note and I also have been planning a Wabakimi trip again later this summer. I'm retired so timing is not really a problem for me. My regular padding partner is unable to go this year so I have reverted to planning a non-aggressive solo trip which is yet TBD. I would be interested and consider travelling together. if everything can be worked out. Whether you are solo or with a partner on a trip like this you still require certain essentials like the saw and the axe etc. that can be shared and reduce the load. I have been paddling and tripping since my first trip into the Algonquin Park interior in 1966. A lot of years paddling for an old timer like me, (75) but I'm still doing solo trips each year as long as I can still carry my canoe. I have been to Wabakimi 3 times (last time in late July 2020) but Covid has had me change plans several times in the last couple of years. I've only been able to do 4 trips iast year to Algonquin and Lake Superior PP's, however Wabakimi PP is planned again for this summer. I don't want to slow you down. I am a pretty laid back canoe tripper now, loving to spend some time fishing and relaxing, so I'm not sure you would be interested in an experienced old timer like me.
However, at some point we we could chat about it.

Peter

Hey Peter,
sorry, just getting to this now.
never got a PM from you and since this was last year, never checked back.

I have plans for late August/ September in WCPP with a buddy from Manitoba. Haven't seen him since 2013 so looking forward to the trip. He's in WCPP right now actually!

Our route is still undetermined.
PM me if you get this.

Glen
