Okay. It's time to admit it. You're a parent now. You're life is different. It's changed dramatically actually. And you're friends were right when they told you that the days of high-energy and adventurous camp outings are gone, or at least put on hold.

What many friends fail to tell you, however, is that camping trips with children are actually better then the ones prior to family life. They may not give you as much freedom as you once had, but they certainly are far more memorable.

Great article as usual, with great advice. Kevin always makes good practical sense.

It was a good article. I agree on getting them out and enjoying the bush before the teen years otherwise it becomes hard to unplug them from an electronic device. The comments about kids slowing you down and making you enjoy your view more thoroughly is well headed advice. Reminds me of life with a tripod. You hate lugging that thing and setting it up, but when you go through all the trouble to do so, you at least look around your entire viewfinder a few times before firing the shutter.

I always liked Bill Mason's advice from Song of the Paddle about bugs and critters. Don't transmit your phobias. Important not to make a big deal. Reply when the kids told him there was a spider in the tent: "That's okay. It won't eat much."
