Hello to you all,

I don't post on here often but some may remember me as one of the filmmakers behind the documentary Nine Rivers. For anyone in the group interested in traditional winter travel I'm posting to let you know about a new film I released today. In 2013 myself and 8 other travellers spent 11 days in February walking in the headwaters of the Missinaibi between the CP line (Bud Car) and the CN line. We were led by my friends at Lure of the North and the film silently witnesses their mentor Garrett Conover passing them the generational torch. If anyone feels so inclined you are of course welcome to pass this trailer/film link along.

I would also love to hear comments from anyone who decides to watch (on here or at david@hayfiremedia.com).

Thanks,

David

The trailer looks great.

Is this the same trip as documented in the Snowwalkers film and, if so, how's this film different?

Garret C. showed a pre-release version at the Winter Camping Symposium. It was well put together, well shot and visually very interesting, a better narrative than Snow Walkers.

My claim to fame is that my toboggan bags feature on the LotN sleds!

Hey NorseScotsman, you're right that this is the same footage as Snowwalkers as I was the cinematographer that shot the trip. This is a completely different story though that concentrates on Garrett Conover and his impressions on tradition, mentorship, and a life in the boreal forest. Having shot the footage I think I picked up on a different story that I felt needed to be told.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Chris!

I really enjoyed the film. It does present a different story than Snowwalkers like you mentioned. I would say I prefer this new version better than Snowwalkers (although I still liked Snowwalkers).

Good job!

Thanks NorseScotsman! I'm glad you enjoyed watching. I think it's always interesting to see how different people approach the same story. We all see the world in a different way...

Happy trails and thanks for the support.
