Hard time deciding which topic to put this in......
From the Fiddles on the Tobique! Nictau N.B. The Ontario rains finally stopped. There is a very neat a very special story about my special passenger on this trip.
I volunteered to help at this event last November on a visit down to see my son PJ, so while many Ontario paddlers were at various 150 events, I went east!
I would like to introduce you to Val, (Valerie Caldwell)so what made this such a special trip, well you better grab a tissue, because this will touch your heart.

Let's take you back to 2003 when Val and her husband Ron came to visit the "Fiddles on the Tobique" so he could write an article for a magazine.
He was so taken by the event he decided he wanted to write a children's book.
Ron became ill in 2004 and passed away and the book fell to the side.
In 2016 Val and Bill Miller, the Father of the "Fiddles on the Tobique" were able to finish off the dream.
Which brought us together, June 24, 2017 at Bill's farm and the launching of "The River Fiddlers" By Ron Caldwell with Paintings by Bennie Allain.

Val and her son Adam put a lot of leg work to make this dream a reality.
I got the pleasure and the Honour to take Val for her first canoe paddle down the Tobique. We had to wait for the heavy rains to subside put it was a beautiful paddle down the river.

Next year is the 25th Anniversary of "Fiddles on the Tobique"
You should make plans to attend, there is a lot of Canadian Canoe History there.

If you want to buy a copy of the book, I will post info later.
