I am curious about a couple of solo designs, that seemingly have gone out of active production, although the moulds remain available.

Can anyone describe any experience with the Whisper solo, an older design perhaps produced by Wenonah? It comes with somewhat dramatic specs; 15' 5" length, 16" bow, 14" stern, but only 22" beam, with little tumblehome appearing.

The second solo is more conventional in design. Its a 16' Jensen, and is significantly different from the Solitude. It is 16' long, 18" bow, 14" stern, and beam of 27". Who has owned or paddled one of these?

I (still) have a very old We-no-nah Whisper solo canoe. I have
already saved enough money (and permission :-) to buy a another solo
canoe, but I have not yet been able to get one that I really liked.

We-no-nah Whisper specs:
15'6" long
29" maximum width
22" gunwale width
27.5" waterline width
12.5" depth
16" bow height
12.5" stern height
28-46 lb. depending on lay-up and outfitting
extreme tumblehome
straight keel

For a very strong paddler, with good paddling technique, this canoe
can be paddled quite fast, especially with the so called Hit&Switch
technique. For a fast touring canoe the Whisper is surprisingly dry
in waves and maneuverability is also higher than one may expect.
Tracks well enough when paddle fast, but at 'normal' speeds tracking
suffers too much (for me), especially in wind and waves, which also
hampers speed then. Stability is more than enough for me, but not
when heeled extreme for FreeStyle maneuvers as I often (try to) do.

While this boat isn't for paddlers over 85 kg (187 lbs) in my
opinion, it also doesn't work for paddlers below 60 kg (132 lbs),
as I have noticed on the occasion that my wife paddles this canoe.
