Planning on putting in on the Brazeau at the outflow from the dam, heading to the North Sask. Short Trip, but any advice on pick up spots before Drayton Valley?
Also, How are the water levels, does anybody know.
New to this site and pretty excited about it, nice to have a resource like this.

The most obvious take out is at the highway 39 bridge just east of Drayton.
There are some other places upriver but I'm not sure about specifics.....the Drayton bridge isn't too far from the Brazeau forks anyway....depending in how long you actually want to spend on the river.

Seems to me to be around a 7 hour run from the Brazeau forks to the Drayton Valley bridge....give or take.....depending on how relaxed you want to paddle. I've done it in less but I was on a mission.
Hope that helps.

Dan, thanks for the info, it will really help me plan my trip.
I was going this Friday, (June 24) but may delay it based on the river levels this week.

If you've got your maps aready check for "Rose Creek" (on river right) . There you will find a battery where there is room to park vehicles(well off the road) and will take off approx' 3 hours paddling that is on a stretch that has had me cursing the wind......can be a tough way to wrap up a weekend of paddling. Just keep right on every Y intersection you come to when driving in off the highway.
This is where I saw my first cougar, while doing the shuttle. Whew that's some BIG CAT!!

Thanks for the info Laura.
And I have always wanted to see a cougar, and have yet to do so. Did you get any pictures?

Thanks again!
