Does anyone know of a website that has a list of places to paddle? Anything like a list of play spots near a certain town or city...Because if Not I may have a decent project coming up.

This actually comes up because I have been searching (both with google earth and google) for places near Hamilton....And I actually ended up back here, with someone asking the same question. The thread was back in 2006 however.

Nothing on line that I know except the major ones, Minden, Ottawa, Palmer.
The trouble with paddling the GTA is water.
There are a few spots St. Catherines, upstream of the Rowing course but the water is very pushy and too much work for someone learning or delveloping skills.
A few short drops on the old wellend canal but they flow only with the surges of the locks upstream, it's there for a couple of mins. then gone.
There are some neat creeks coming off the escarpment but then again creeking skills need to be good.
16 mile creek when high has great play spots (water again) but can be filled with sweepers.
Surfing can't beat the beach strip in Hamilton Burlingtion, good public access and huge surf when the wind is right.
Most people just opt for Minden or the Ottawa, but that could change with gas prices.

Like Splake says, boatwerks is probably your best starting point, but as Jeff points out, there just isn't much in southern ontario to start with.

There's a kayaking site that lists the few play spots on the Grand - Big Bloop, Parkhill, mill waves etc. I can't find the link but you'll be able to source it on boatwerks.

www.mackfest.ca describes the popluar highway 7 runs.

Elora Gorge is the only thing that comes to mind as a southern On WW, and the good season on this is short.

Don't forget the Maitland.....Ben Miller to Godrich. The Bayfield can be fun as well, but not as much fun as the Maitland.
