A group of six of us with three canoes are paddling the Gataga starting the end of July. Has anyone paddled this river?

There is a good story in B.C. Magazine about three years ago.

I drove a string of horses up the Gataga valley 10 years ago. Would love to paddle it. Here's some info:

Krusty-
Thanks for giving me the link to the trip report on the Gataga. Sounds like we have lots to look forward to.

Hi John,

I flew over the Gataga in 2006 to have a look for a possible trip. There had been a fire there in about 2004. Burned most of the forest between Mayfield and the river,
as well as other areas. I decided to wait until the green comes back a bit. It is a spectacular area. I saw one of the rapids from the air, though I don't know which one. Big rock with some logs in center right of the channel. Short carry on RR. Otherwise, it seemed fairly straightforward. Have a good trip. I'll look forward to a report.

Erich-
Thanks for the insight on the river. We are most definitely going to be looking out for logs. If the fire was four years ago, the vegetation should start to be interesting. I will post information after I get back.

Any updates? Just watched a TVO episode from Great Canadian Rivers and the scenery looked spectacular.
Any trip reports available?

Hi, I'm looking to join a trip. Is your trip complete? End of July would work well for me.
Thanks.
Nellie
