I'm back and it wasn't dull.
We should have known problems were coming when our travel to Yellowknife and our flight out really clicked on the 30th of June.
The highlights:
an 800m portage to nowhere
even at high water levels the Parent is a lot of wading
The Coppermine was in flood
A bad!!! bad!!! swim in the Coppermine
The Fairy lake river was in flood, a bad time to go 35km up stream!!!!!
We finally reached the Hood drainage on Lake 414 on the 22nd of July so there was no hope of doing the Hood and getting picked up on the on the 30th so we changed the pick up to the 28th and just hung out there. Good thing as the weather got bad; atomic scotch mist, rain, and high winds.
The area is rather poor on wild life as well, especially water fowl I think they all go to Queen Maude Gulf.
I will be be doing a trip report later

Just as a side note, a friend just returned from the coppermine and unfortunately had his boat stolen :x
I don't have the details right yet but it was a brand new Pocket Canyon Canoe, red with yellow ropes.
Sorry Doug, didn't mean to take over your post, but I would also like to read details and see your pictures of this trip

This sounds like a trip I can't wait to read the details about! It is always more 'interesting' when everything doesn't go like clockwork!

I had to google the phrases "flood", "high water levels", and "rain".

Looking forward to reading the trip report.

these drops are not on the maps of the Fairy lake river. The water meter station is right above the larger one.

I can't say much about the rapids on the Coppermine most of them were washed out.

Of the 35km of the Fairy lake river we think we were able to paddle 10 km. The rest was tracking lining and portaging. It is rather pretty after the fist 3000m portage.
