As some members have noticed, changing the email address associated with their username results in inadvertently deactivating that username. To avoid this happening, please send a request to admin@myccr.com & we will happily change the email for you.

If you have already experienced this situation & have created a second account because of it, please let us know. Just send us both usernames & specify which email & which username you’d like to have active. We will delete any extraneous usernames.

Bump.

If you need to have the email address in your CCR account changed, send an email to admin@myccr.com , telling us your username and the new email address.

bump once again.

If you want to change the email address associated with your CCR account, please send the information (username and new email address) to admin @ myccr.com and we will change it for you. Doing it yourself will result in deactivating your account.

If you do deactivate yourself, please do not re-register. Definitely do not re-register using a different username, just to facilitate a change in your email address.

You don't need to be logged in to send us an email.

Thanks.

Changes of username and/or email address cannot be done by the member through the User Control Panel.

It's a simple process for the admin to make these changes, all we need is an email from you giving us the details.

Just thought I would explain some things here:

If you use your User Control Panel to change your email address, this is fine, really. It's a safety feature of the software, I presume.

What happens when you do, however is thusly:

1.) your account is automatically deactivated by the software. You can no longer post or send or receive pm's.

2.) an automated email is sent to the Admin advising us of the deactivation.

3.) normally, it's pretty easy to see that a member has changed email addresses or servers, and why they want to make that change.

4.) I go in and do an update to the profile, verifying the new email address, and then updating and reactivating the member's account.

5.) I used to pm each person, advising them that I had done that.

6.) I gave up pm'ing each person, due to the resounding lack of responses acknowledging the reactivation and awareness of the consequences of changing the email address through the UCP. (In each pm I sent, I provided the links to the two threads that explain this.)

7.) If however, it seems to me that the new email address is "fake" or made up to be stuck in there, then I hold off doing any of the steps necessary to reactivate the account.

If the member is changing his or her email address for the purposeful deactivating of their account, then I won't fix things.

However, I would appreciate an email to let me know exactly what is going on. You don't need to be logged in to send an email to

admin @ myccr.com

to say "no, please don't reactivate my account" or "oops, I made a mistake, could you please reactivate my account".

I would really appreciate the few minutes of your time that it would take.

Thank you,
Barbara

If you find yourself deactivated because you changed your email address through your User Control Panel, stay calm.

Someone will be along shortly to update your profile and reactivate your account.

another bump....

There's no need to re-register if...

you've forgotten your username

you've forgotten your password

you want to change the email address in your profile

If you find yourself about to re-register because of any or all of those situations, or for some other reason, please don't.

Send an email with as much info as you can remember to adminATmyccr.com and explain the problem(s) you're having. It's usually a simple process to fix or change things.

When registration requests are received, one of the things that gets checked is if you already have an account. Detective work is fun, but it would save a lot of time and emails if we were contacted first, instead of having to go through the process.

Thanks,
Barbara

Looks like it's time for a reminder that members can not change their email addresses on their own.

Doing this will deactivate your account.

Only an Admin can change the email address of members.

Please send an email to us if you require this change in your profile.

Thank you.

With the recent issues we've been having, you might not get the email notification that your account has been deactivated.

Or the email that your account has been re-activated. Which will happen when I check on things and discover someone has changed their email address on their own.
