Thanks all for the help. We had a wonderful time. Stopped at the Miette Hot Springs on the way in to Japer (and enjoyed a hike too), and saw elk and goats on the way in. The Ice Cube tour of the Icefields was a highlight, as was swimming in Lake Edna, Pyamid Lake and Island, Mount Robson (Reareguard falls was okay, but couldn't find a good line :D ). You were right about the Icefields. The glacier was a long way away from where I visited and had a snow ball fight right off the road in 1969. Maligne Lake was very nice and the drive in was interesting, as the fire burned out a good chunk of the trees up to and along Spirit Lake. We ony got down to bridge 3 in the Canyon (stinkin hot and short on time), but drove down to Bridge 6 (and discussed lines with our teen who was keen to "run it ). The Tram ride was off due to rain and clouds, as was Mount Edith C. -but we will do both next time. The Jasper Yellowhead Museum & Archives ws excellent and had a great special exhibit on movie making with Marilyn Monroe, and "Summer's Past" exhibit featuring the 90th Anniversary of the Golf Course, the 75th Anniversary of the Icefields Parkway, and an exhibit on Frank Smyth mountaineer. I found the tales of the Ranger's wives really interesting. They also have an ongoing book sale in the basement (by pay what you can), and we got good books to go.

Belle's Mountain Chalet was good value and perfect for our stay, and we could cook our own meals and prepare lunches. Our teen was happy to have a bedroom right away from ours so that he could hibernate for a bit.

A highlight was walking across the Athabasca river (about 1.5 km) on the way out of town. It only gets just above the knees all the way across.

"I've never met a river I didn't like. The experience is what we remember and the challenges make for great memories". Me
